Portrait of Heshmat Sanjari, drawing, 1951.
About this work
This work is a portrait of Master Heshmat Sanjari, an Iranian composer, conductor and instrumentalist (1917 to 1994), dated 1951.
The making of this work has an interesting story: one day Master Jalil Ziapour and Heshmat Sanjari had gone to the mountains, and they also had a bag full of grapes with them. While they were resting in the shade of a tree, Sanjari was humming a tune and Ziapour was drawing his portrait on the empty grape bag. In the end, Ziapour gave it to Sanjari himself, who was delighted to see his portrait.
