Decorative Motifs in the Land of Iran from the Earliest Times to the Median Era
This book traces the origins and evolution of decorative motifs on the Iranian plateau, from the earliest designs of prehistoric people to the art of the Median era. Analyzing more than three hundred drawings and photographs — from the painted pottery of Sialk, Giyan, Tepe Hissar, Fars, and Susa to the bronzes of Luristan and the gold work of Amlash and Marlik — the author explains how geometric, plant, animal, and human motifs emerged and how they were composed.
